A look back...

I decided some time ago that rather than collecting rows and rows of photo albums I would make a single photo book for each year of each of my childrens lives.  Seeing as how I didn't come up with this decision until somewhat recently, I'm a little behind.  So today... I've been working on "Year 3" for my 6 year old.

It seems that I get so wrapped up in my daily living that I forget that my six year old was not always six... and am amazed to remember just how little he once was.  As some of you know... he was three when he came to live with us and even thinking back I seem to remember him bigger than he really was.  I am so glad that I have pictures to remind me where it all began. :)

And now back to work.  :)

My own Fuzzy Friday...

Well, my mother had a great idea to start what she calls "Fuzzy Friday" on her blog - each Friday her blog consists of a new picture she has taken of Fuzzy sometime that week.  Of course I love it, well, because Fuzzy belongs to me.  :)  So, today I decided to share my own "Fuzzy Friday" with you.  So, here it is.

Have a great day!!

Who knew...

I'll start by saying... unlike some children... my son is not big on sweets.  It always amazes me when he opens a candy bar... and doesn't finish it (I could NEVER do that!!).
So last weekend while he was away with me-maw in Fredericksburg... we were all suprised to find that he stumbled upon a sweet he absolutely could not stop eating...   spice cake.
Really??!!

Well, it's not "spice cake," but I figured gingerbread cupcakes might be close.  So...

Six cupcakes later....

I have a VERY happy six year old!! :)

Another finished project...

Well, we finally finished the kitchen project...

                    Before

 During

                                                                              and after.  :)

and I only have FOUR DAYS left until I'm a stay-at-home mom again.  I can't wait!!

This was C's drawing in Sunday school when his teacher told him to draw an animal that went on the ark.  Any guesses??

And this is Fuzzy's newest favorite... playing with mommy's coffee carousel. :)

(P.S. The animal above is an elephant.)    :)

Have a great day and remember to hug someone you love!!

Our Sunday Afternoon...

Now that school is back in session we don't tend to do as many "fun" things during the week so we try to make up for it on the weekends.  My six year old, as I've probably said before, LOVES pizza.  So what better treat than to be able to make it himself? Well, that is exactly what he did today.

With all the ingredients set... he was ready.

He wasn't too sure about pineapple and onions for mom... but as long as he was the one to put them on... he was happy to oblige.  Let's just say I definitely got my serving of fruit in today.

Once it was all cooked and cooled... he might have enjoyed it more than any pizza ever before.

And what did Fuzzy do while our chef was hard at work??
He got to play with his favorite truck...

AND help mom do laundry!! :)

Between church, pizza, grins and giggles... I would say we had a GREAT day!!
We hope you did too!!

The magic vegetable...

Corn on the cob is one of those magic veggies that you don't really have to convince the kids to eat... because no matter which way you look at it... they LOVE it.  Well, at least mine do. :)  Something about that perfect mixture of butter, pepper and sweet corn is just irresistible.  And in my opinion, nothing funnier than watching them eat it! :)

Enough said.  :)
Have a great day!!

Finally returning...

Well, I've been on break from blogging for a while so that we could move into and remodel our new house.

We finally got almost the entire house done... with the exception of the kitchen and one bathroom.  It's been a whirlwind of remodeling around here!

Our six year old finally started back to school yesterday...

I have the week off... and my sister started what I know will be an awesome blog today

... reminding me that I need to get back into the blogging world myself.  So... with just me and the little man here...

I'm back.  :)

Amazing it is that even the simplest flower will be beautiful in its own spotlight.

Field Day

I've always thought that "field day" at the schools is a great thing for the kiddos. Lots of exercise, a day to take a break from the every day monotony to have fun... and in the end they usually learn a little too.

Caylon recently had his field day at school and there was a lot going on.

Tug-of-war...                                                               The balance beam...

Hurdles... with a slight mishap.

Even a small pep-talk from coach.

But best of all... was when I realized the moment of learning.
At some point I need to teach my child that his heart is on the LEFT side of his body.
He just looked so confused. :)

Hope you had a "field day" of your own today!!

Fast learner

Well, its been a little over a week since my last post.  Things have been crazy here trying to get packed and ready for the move.  We are only moving 4 miles down the road... but it feels as though we are trekking across country.  In the midst of all the packing... I have had the opportunity to see how fast my little one is growing and learning.  It amazes me every day.

"Nice," I say to myself... "he has learned to open the dishwasher."

"Great... not only can he open it... he can climb ON it."

"Okay... so he can open it, climb on it, stand on it... and... get in it.  Time to lock the dishwasher."

Jury Duty

What a week this has been.  I last left you as I ventured into the world of jury duty... and had no idea that three days later I would surface with an extremely exhausted mind and a little more caution in my daily living.  Monday morning I was chosen to sit on the jury of 12 people that would be responsible for deciding the fate of one man.  Not just any man... a man charged with "burglary with the intent to commit sexual assault."  I sat through two horrific days of testimony and evidence that in the end left no question of the mans intent.  Breaking into a young womans home... confident she is alone... with a mask made out of an ace bandage and a roll of duct tape in hand.  I cannot even begin to imagine the fear that struck not one, but two girls, as that man turned the corner into the girls bedroom.  However, in the end it is a strange feeling to know that I, along with 11 others, just put a man in prison for the next 47 years of his life.  I haven't stopped thinking about that trial since it ended and I am looking forward to a weekend with the parts of life that remind me to be grateful for the things I have... and most of all never take anything for granted.  You never know who or what might come across your path and decide to take whatever they want from you.  By the grace of God alone those girls lost nothing more than their sense of security... which in itself is enough to warrant a 47 yr prison sentence ... if you ask me.

Today and everyday I thank my Lord in Heaven for the blessings of life he has so generously shared with me.

An extra day off?

Well, I am serving as a civilian today. Missing work and sitting with 50 others as we wait to be picked for jury duty. With a red bull and my iPhone in hand, I can't help but enjoy an extra day off from work... However, I also can't help but wish my regular paycheck came with it. Besides... What good is a day off if I can't spend it with my little G? Either way... I'll let you know how it goes. :)
