Another successful birthday!

Well, last night we celebrated another big birthday... Caylon turned 6 on Wednesday and so on Friday he got to stay home from school as a special treat! :) It all started with a corn dog breakfast (I know... but thats what he wanted).  :)

Then it was off to Fort Worth for the party... and after 1 popped balloon, 2 escaped balloons, a crazy hair experience at Wal Mart and the realization of no cake utensils... well, we finally made it to the movie tavern to watch Hoodwinked Too and have cake/presents.

And as you can tell... he had a ton of fun! The plan was to stay up late playing with all his new toys, but... well... he didn't last long. :)

And somewhere in the middle of all that craziness... my boys took some of the cutest pictures ever!! I thought the studio did an AWESOME job - but then again its not hard to take pictures when your subjects are so handsome!! :)

Little man's first birthday

Well, I finally have a real computer in front of me, all of my pictures finally uploaded and a moment to sit down and share with you some pictures from our exciting birthday party!

My biggest accomplishment was the cake table.  Not much to some I'm sure... but a big fun project for me! In case you can't make out the picture... it's an entire farm scene made from cupcakes! :) A muddy (brown sugar) sty full of cupcake pigs, a pasture (easter grass and green coconut topped cupcakes) with a couple of cows and their calves, some chickens and their chicks out in front of the barn... and even a farmers garden of carrots off to the side.  I had a ton of fun and was so happy with the finished product!

Next... what would a farm birthday be without a tractor pinata??!! :)

And an enormous cow cake just for the birthday boy!

"Hmmm... I'm not real sure about this whole cake thing ...

Okay... maybe its good after all. "
Even big brother had to get in on this!

After a quick costume change (the last one was drenched with icing)... we were on to presents.

Grayer got some of the cutest things... like his little rocking cow and his bubble machine (which turned out to be a big hit to the party guests!!).

In the end... it was a whole lot of fun!! And it made for a good picture!! Ha Ha!

The next bday will be here before we know it!

A week worth celebrating.

The husband got home yesterday after a long spell of work.  He had planned to be gone through the end of May but his boss let him leave early for a short stop at home to help me with all the house business.  Even more, I found a house I like... and now he gets to go look at it with me.  The kids and I have four days with their daddy and we plan to cram as much into that four days as we can. Thank goodness for Me-maw  ... she kept the kiddos last night so that Q and I could go to dinner - fajitas for two hit the spot.  Now on the agenda?... find a new home, make an offer, get a storage building... and begin the move.  Then.. its back to work for him and we will be here to pack the rest of the house by ourselves.   Let's just keep praying that the contract on our house stays in tact. :)

Missing

Well, I've been missing for several days from blog world. I have been without a computer for about a week and am so excited that I will have one again this evening. I can add posts from the trusty ol IPad... But it won't let me add pictures. Now how boring is that? Therefore... Hold on to your horses because there will be lots of pictures coming up soon! I can't wait to show you the great time we all had at my little G's birthday party!! Until then... Enjoy your Sunday!

A Time to Sell

Well the hunt for a house is on. Our house has been on the market for a grand total of 17 months and finally... It's on contract. We are hoping (since the last one fell through) that this contract will be for good. I have tried to hold off on getting excited or searching for a house for a little bit in case the contract fell through... But I am now in house hunt mode... and super excited about it!! All I'm waiting for now is our real estate agent to call me with a time for house viewings. Wish me luck!! I'll let you know what I find! :)

On the road again

Well... it came way too fast but G and I are about to leave our wonderful Hilton in the great city of Denver and head back to the airport. Wish me luck as I once again venture into the enormous world of moving sidewalks, security checkpoints and tiny airplane seats. Lets hope G sleeps all the way home. :)

A birthday to remember

On Monday, April 4th, Grayer and I set out on a fun-filled adventure.  It all started at 4:06pm when I pulled away from work ... Grayer and all our luggage in tow.  Our plane was set to depart at 7:25pm... I was already stressed.  A grande, non-fat, no-whip white mocha from Starbucks... a little help from the great and wonderful airport taxi (Daley)... and a lot of traffic later... we were at the airport and ready to set out to Denver, Co.  Daddy, a.k.a Quincy, would be waiting.

We landed in Denver... a little late... and I wish I had a picture to show you of myself... trying to navigate through that enormous airport, child on hip, suitcase being drug behind me... diaper bag on top of suitcase.  That was a MUCH longer walk than I had anticipated and fear that Grayer may have been hanging on for dear life by the time I finally reached Quincy.  Nevertheless... we made it! ... and Grayer was so happy to see his daddy he wouldn't leave his arms for anything... not even me!

Poor G must have had some side-effects from the plane ride ... he didn't go to sleep until 11:45 and woke up at 12:15 screaming at the top of his lungs.  For those of you who know him... he doesn't scream.  I know a lot of people say they have the best baby... but I really do. :) He rarely cries... and even when he does.. it's easily fixable.  Monday night... nothing would satisfy him... except screaming.  That lasted 15 minutes (though it felt like 30) and just about the time I thought I would have to take him to the ER to see what was wrong... the crying stopped.  It was immediate.  He fell back to sleep and never made another sound.  Strange.

Anyway... we woke up Tuesday morning and... YAY... IT'S GRAYER'S FIRST BIRTHDAY!!  Q had gone to work for a couple of hours but came back and took G and I to find a "luxurious" hotel so that we would thoroughly enjoy our trip (isn't he the best??!!).  So where did we land? None other than the Hilton Garden Inn.

Full room service available 24 hours... pool open 24 hours... and probably the most comfortable bed I've ever laid my toosh on!! Grayer and I ... well, we love it.  :)

For lunch we went to the Bass Pro Shop restaurant.  We saw tons of fish and wished Caylon could have been here to see them too! (He's spending four days with Me-maw - so fun!)

Applebee's Gift CardAfter lunch was some minor shopping (had to buy some birthday cake!), back to the hotel to relax and then dinner at one of MY favorites!... Applebee's.

(Doesn't G look thrilled?)

Applebee's happens to be across the parking lot from the Hilton... so after dinner we walked back to the hotel for some BIRTHDAY CAKE!!

We had a GREAT first birthday for Grayer and are now just enjoying our mini-vacation.

I am so glad the three of us got to be together on G's special day.  All I know... is we sure are gonna miss daddy after we leave tomorrow.  He is, by far, our favorite man!

The early bird...

My five year old is obsessed with the idea of being the first child picked up at the end of the day. Me-maw has tried several times to be the first one there and it hasn't worked. Today I was DETERMINED to be the first one so that I might squelch the obsession. So... School let's out at 3:05. I gave myself plenty of time to get here and managed to roll in at exactly 2:26. Whew... Great timing. Or so I thought. As I turned the very last corner to park outside the Kindergarten door... I realized (to my extreme disappointment)that I was second in line.
Not only that... Within TWO minutes, two more cars had nestled in behind me.
So... Lesson learned... You must arrive HOURS ahead of time if you want to be the first parent in line. My sons obsession will not likely be changing anytime soon. :(
